Parenting

Many parents come to therapy feeling exhausted, helpless and at their wit’s end. They come with a wide range of family issues, including supporting their child struggling with big emotions, refusal to go to school or trouble accepting limits.

Through working with Dr. Kahane, parents are able to recharge, get a bigger perspective, and learn the tools they need to improve their responses to their children's difficulties and to strengthen their relationships with their children overall. Through this process, parents and children are able to feel calmer and more equipped to handle conflict and difficulties when they inevitably arise.

Dr. Kahane views parent-child relationships as the “blue prints” for the child’s relationships as they grow up. By strengthening your child’s relationship with you now, you prepare them to have strong, healthy relationships in the future, whether that’s with peers, romantically or when they have families of their own one day.
